5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I drove the the 2008 model of the the Accord, Camry, Avenger, and Mazda 6 and yes, the Camry was the quietest. I test drove the Accord and the Camry on the same day just to make sure I had a good side by side comparison!
Test drove Nissan Altima and Camry, yes Camry is way more quiet than Altima (but Altima is more powerful compare with Camry)
+1. I test drove both on the day I made my decision. Camry feels more solid to me, feels quieter and the altima is wayyy bumpier even on the 2.5 (regular suspension). Also, interior quality is not as nice on the Altima even though Camry's interior has deteriorated a bit on the Gen6.

Would the creeeekkk creeekkk be rattles? Just kidding. However, for some reason, I think my Gen6 is not as slient as my Gen5 although same engine is used. I am guessing that's related to the extra weight on my SE. :creature:

Let's define what belongs into our Camry's class first...size only? If so, we need to include Lexus GS, Infinity M35, Acura TL, AudiA6, Caddy CTS, maybe 300C....? I doubt the Camry is the quietest in that round. If we say mid-size (defined as <100cf interior room) sedan below 30k, well - maybe. (btw, the new Accord is >100cf and actually does not belong into the traditional definition of mid-size sedan, but what the heck). In any way, it is quiet enough for me - no need for bragging rights if it is the quietest.
Car&driver and other test magazines often mention while the V6 engine is smooth and quiet, road noise is the most noticeable followed by some wind noise. I can agree with that - that's one reason it costs much less than a better noise insulated lexus etc.

accords aren't as insulated from the outside so you hear road noise.. camrys are so insulated that you just hear the inside rattles as you described.
I know my 02 Accord is realy loud, mainly on concrete roads. I know the 08 Accord is a bit quieter, but not as quiet as the Camry.
Does anyone know of any website that has db ratings for the interior of all makes of cars for comparison.
Cheapchic, Do you think the Accord is quieter than the Camry? that condradicts what I have found.

Yes, I do. We have one and I drive it now and then. I drive the Camry everyday and notice a big difference. Maybe it just the 08 that are diff.
