5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I was wondering if anyone had shelled out $28,000+ dollars of their hard earned money to find out if Toyota has FIXED their "flare" problem on the V6 TRANSMISSIONS.
AFAIK it's not fixed from the factory yet, and a few select people still have the flare. At this rate it will be lucky to get fixed by the 2010 refresh.
Sarcasm strikes again.........and sucks up another unsuspecting member.
No worries. It's all good.
I did a search and read through 90% of the past transmission posts and was just looking for brave, new 2009 Camry owners to give me a warm fuzzy feeling regarding the trans.
It's a V6 thing so manual is n/a. Do a search for flare and you will have have toilet reading for the next year.
Imagine that Wireless, you tell someone to use the search feature, and the LORD of SEARCH comes back with "Sarcasm strikes again.........and sucks up another unsuspecting member"

That's why I keep coming back!!!!
It obviously went way over your head too and I'm not going to explain it to you.
I'll try really hard to write at the 4th grade level for y'all.
I'm nearing 2,000 miles on my 2008 V6 SE -- 10/2007 build date. The transmission has been 100%, absolutely PERFECT.

I'm not sure about you guys, but since we all live in the northern states where it gets pretty cold in the winter, I've never had a single flare occur when the car was cold. I believe it's because of the cold that the transmission holds 3rd gear much longer then it does when it's warmer out, which is basically what the TSB fix is suppose to do.
Wait until late spring/summer when the temps start getting 60F+ in the morning, and you may start seeing the flare more often.
