USA Check enging light/code P0335 & P0340

I live in the L.A. area. I drive an 05 Camry and my wife drives an 04. I know it's corny to both drive same car (different color) but, I got such a good deal I couldn’t pass them up and up till now we had no problems. My problem is with the 04, the Check Engine light was on. Used Scanner and codes read P0335 (crank shaft position sensor) & P0340 ( camshaft position sensor) Symptoms are: a couple times after putting in reverse and then drive it stalls then will not start. Other times after driving a while, when you turn it off it will not start. Eventually it has always restarted but it takes anywhere from 5-20 minutes. Before it was twice in 6 mos, now it happened 4 times this week. I was thinking something had to cool down, but don’t what (it is not overheating) just a guess. This is my wife’s car, she drives about a ½ hour in the morning and it sits until lunch (starts & restart no problem), then another ½ hour back in the evening. The check engine light went off, so I erased the codes and now it reads no codes. It is a 4cyl w/ 65,000 mile. I went to the dealership and the service guy would not answer any of my questions or even look me in the eye, I guess he figured he wasn’t going to make any money off me. I called the parts dept and asked if the service dept goes through a lot of the sensors and they do. I figure it is cheaper to replace both sensors myself than to take the car to them to diagnose and fix. I can tackle some things but following wiring schemes and testing electrical parts has always confused me.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

No more problem

Never took it to a mechanic. Haven't had that problem in over a year.
I don't know why, but I'm not complaining. I actually forgot about until i received a reply today. Why did it take 18 mos ?

Regards,

Marty
