For what it's worth, my 99 4 cy made a noise like that after my first oil change. Turned out the place I went to used a filter that let the oil normally held at the top of the engine drain back to the crankcase. (Per phone call to the dealer) I picked up a Toyota filter and had it installed. No more cold engine noise.

Your car is still under warranty - take it to the dealer.

its only gor 2,400 miles on it, so it has the filter from the factory.

Sounds to me like a failed hydraulic lifter, or a valve retainer broke.

Have you been doing alot of WOT pulls? If so you could have broke a lifter, I suggest you take it to the dealer immediately before major engine failure.

LOL! It's the Camry-Cannery-Works!

Are they packing Sockeye or Tuna under your hood?

It's normal, in the following video you can even hear the pistons slapping before the transmission fails. I dunno what it is with Toyota Engines?

They:

1. Make tons of Noise

2. Make good torque down low

3. Get crappy gas mileage (compared)

4. Never fail (but they sound like they're going to?)

No, i haven't. Just once or twice this week. And i know its not a lifter or anything to do with the valve terrain because its coming from behind the bumper/under the front bumper. IF it were anything to do with the valves it would be making noise in the top end of the engine.

That's a good one!

The car sounds normal to me. I'd bring it by the dealer to be sure though. It's really hard to tell by the video.
