5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I saw a limited slip differential on ToyotaPartsPeople.com for $1,200 and was wondering if anyone here has actually installed on in their Camry before. It seems like it would greatly improve driving on snow or sandy roads, but it is pretty expensive.

In my eyes, LSD is really something more for true 4 wheel offroading (where you need full torque transfer)...like if you want to drive Paris-Dakar with you Camry. The electronic VSC with traction control has pretty much the same effect (but partial torque transfer, I presume) under normal street driving conditions. Just my opinion.
Its funny how they make all that crap for the 4 cyl. Damn, when i had a 4 cyl that thing couldn't get out of its own way, and wouldn't even spin the tires to get the full use and benefit of a LSD. They need to make these things for the V6's.

Does that even fit the automatic? I'm almost certain that for FF cars, TRD only makes LSD for the manual transmission models...meaning I'm one of the few people that can use it...not that I would...
I don't want to put much more money into my car. A sub and maybe some alloy wheels... but other than that, my car is likely going to stay the way it is.
I guess it would work on Scion tC, xB, and the new Corolla and Matrix XRS too since they have the E350 transmission which is very similar to the E351 in my car.

It seems like its only for 4cyl because its the only one with a manual and that motor is shared with cars that have a little bit more sporting potential.
It would be nice for them it make one for the V6... I bet some of the guys here would be all over it.
Doubt it... I just found the TRD Japan site and they don't make any LSD for FWD automatics.
As for manual transmission...even the IS350 doesn't have that option in RWD. I doubt the Camry will. Toyota seems to be moving away from automatics in higher performance vehicles. Even the ISF only has automatic and it's directly taken from the LS even (gear ratios and all).
