Not a problem and you can use 0W20 in your windshield washers and water for brake fluid.

The 2003 4-cyl manual fluid should be:

Oil grade API GL-4 or GL-5
Viscosity SAE 75W-90

But yes, Some manual transmission applications use ATF. Not yours though. My Taurus SHO did, It used Mercon ATF.

That's what I spec'd as well. Any specific reason you mention NOT to use ATF?

Despite the junk posts above(which were tremendously clever) , many many cars with manual trannies actually run ATF , even old ford trucks.

I'm more interested in technical reasons why it would not work. Thanks much.

basically it's not designed for it. so if you put it in it wont lubricate
like it should. which will result in a KABOOM.

Not nitroglycerin! Its Nitrateglyurcyrineanalimine of Ester Oil you idiot. You can get it at Walmart in the freezer section. I use it in my tires all the time! JK

It won't work to put ATF in a transmission that was designed for another lubricant because it will cause premature failure.

Clearances/tolerances are specific for a particular lubricant. Just like running gear oil in a transmission that requires ATF will cause failure.

i think im going to start using Deisel in my lexus. Even though it calls for gasoline, some cars use Deisel so I think it would be cool.
