Installing spoiler question?

Hi

I am getting close to order a lip spoiler for my gen 6 toyota, but one thing I feel hesitated is the fact that i need to drill the trunk.

I saw someone mention one can use the 3m special automotive tape to just glue the spoiler and the trunk.

Has anyone done that way ? If so, please tell me how you feel the setup.

If you're worried about not being able to take it off without holes, if you decide to mount it with tape and glue, then the residue and the color fading would be just as worse as having two holes in the trunk.

I'm nervous as well about drilling holes too though, but as long as you use sealant then it shouldn't rust through the trunk.

so you ended up drilling two hole is your trunk.
I scare that i have to stick with the spoiler forever, once i remove it, it will be 2 holes there.

So leave it on....................

You need 6 holes for the OEM lip spoiler.

so is it reliable just to use double tap to attach the spoiler ?

If not, like everyone, I will drill six holes into the trunk.

Did anyone order the OEM spoiler or after market? I would like to hear about the quality of aftermarket, some place on ebay offer paint match too. They only cost 50% less compared to OEM.

Anyway, what the worst thing you guys think could happen to the aftermarket unit spoiler ( drilled)?

BAM!!!

Rear spoiler w/ pic

1. 6 holes need to be drilled.

2. If you paid the extra 20 bucks for the installation template, a monkey could install the spoiler.

3. If you are scared to drill holes......take your time. If you mess up, fill the holes in, they get covered up by the spoiler anyway and nobody will see them.

4. Use a primer on the exposed metal of the holes you drill to prevent rusting in the future. You wallet will love you.
