Front License Plate Bracket? Options?

My Camry will be in the week of 4/21. My state requires a front license plate and I do not want to attach the plate directly to the front bumper.

Does anyone know where I can buy one for my 09 online? The factory one sucks as you have to attach the bracket and plate to the bumper at the same time. This prevents me from using any plate cover, screw caps, or frames. I would think a bracket should attach to the bumper then the plate to the bracket, but that is not how the factory one is setup.

Thoughts?

Kills me to even drill the dimples on the bumper, but I have no choice.

My state also requires a front license plate - here is my solution :

It's usually illegal to have the plate covered at all, even if the covering is clear.

My state allows for a clear cover to be placed over your plate. Tinted are illegal. I try to keep my plate in good shape as I hate when a nice car has plates that look like they have been run over by a eighteen wheeler.

my front place has it's plastic clear cover cracked. I plan to remove the license plate completely soon and see if I will get into trouble.

get some 14 ga slotted flat galvanized steel strap from home depot and match up the holes with the plate and mount the plate to two such straps. You may have to drill two holes to accomodate the height of the plate onto the strap... Leave about 4 inches extending down from the bottom of the plate. Now bend the extended portion of the straps backwards at 90 degrees and screw them into the underside of the top edge of the lower grille.... this way the holes don't show at all, once the plate is removed... i did mine that way... if you want to get more creative, and have the time to do so, have more than 4 inches of that metal strap to work with and some how bend it onto the lower grille..... i'll follow up with some pics of mine......

I just bought the factory holder and zipped it on the front of the car. I was able to get some screw caps over the screws, which cleans it up a bit.

Killed me to watch those screws go in the front bumper, but it is better than getting nailed or pulled over every day.

My state is cracking down on front plates because the old rear only plates are still on the road and their recalling them.

Couldnt you have zip-tied the plates to the bottom grille? Would it fit and if blocking the grille, would it be a good thing to do?

Yea I saw that but I dont think it comes pre-drilled. Either he or dealer drilled the holes and he took it off. When I took the l4 and V6 for a test drive, there was no holes on the bumper and NY requires front plates. If I'm able to put it on the bottom grille when I get my car, I'll tell them not to drill the bumper. If they do, maybe add bumper plugs?

Tek, what state are you in that is going from a single to two plates? In the last thirty years it has tended to go the other way. In the news today from Dallas, a car was stopped last night because it had no front plate. If a driver is behaving suspiciously the cop can use that as a reason to stop and check on other things. Anyway, the passenger jumped out and ran, turned and pointed a gun at the cop. Death certificate should read Suicide. Driver had no license so he just went to jail but lived to see the sun come up.
