Guys who did a retro...

How are you protecting your bulb adapter? I found this pic in JSM's thread on hidplanet

I need one of those rubber grommet/gaskets and CANNOT find it. I have searched for 1 1/2 hours easily. I seen that lngasman used 3" pvc caps but I wanted something a little more oem looking like this one.... Is this part referred to by a different name so I will know what to search for?

I actually did consider doing the PVC or using rubber grommets, but I ended up just trying to make the stock rubber fit over the adapter. It definitely isn't a weather sealed fit, but it's been through almost a year of Chicago weather, ranging from snow and rain, and the HIDs are fine. I have the Philips LVQ ballasts and they have no problem whatsoever, no flicker or dimming or anything.

The headlamp assembly itself just condenses every so often, but it clears up pretty fast.

i actually PM'ed JSM here and asked a while ago. its referred to as a socket cover off a 2002 Lexus ES300. Make sure you get the halogen version and not the HID. HID version is a solid plastic twist on cap.

try searching at some OEM lexus part stores, the one i had ordered from no longer works apparently.

I got PVC 3" caps from Lowes. They fit fairly snug and have kept the weather out. I drilled a hole in the bottom for the wires and painted them flat back to match the high beam grommet.

Thanks guys. All very helpful advice. LNG, how did you seal the hole you drilled for the wires?

Just a small rubber grommet from the local Hardware store. Either measure what size you need or just take the cap down with the hole already drilled.

They are the Low beam cover for a 2002 Lexus ES300 with Halogen lights. They are about $15 from the dealer each.
