Gen6 Easy mod Trunk CC.

Got the idea and easy instructions from this forum. Thanks to all of you DIYers for all the ideas and helpful pictures.

It's still light out so I'll post more pictures of the finished product at night. For now here is where I mounted them.

Here is a night picture. It's a very bad cell pic.

What am I looking at here? You attached fluorescent office lighting as ground effects or something?

LOL close.

YOu are looking at the trunk of my car. I installed two 12 inch cold cathode lights in place of the tiny trunk light. Check back tonight after the dodgers game I'll have night pictures up.

Yeah, that's what I did as well. Very easy mod for some great results over the stock lighting. I've done that on my Gen4 as well as my Gen6.

Gen4:

In trunk:

In glove box (yes, it's very ricey, the car is my brother's now)

Gen6:

In trunk:

What's wrong with you guys...kitchen lighting in the trunk? JK....but I am really not a fan of those kind of lights - anywhere. Oh well, everybody has its taste and it looks practical.

I thought cold cathodes were limited to gamer enthusiast modding of their computer cases, yet I learn something new each day!

They are computer lights but since they operate on 12VDC from a computer PSU and the car's electrical system is 12 VDC, they work just fine.

Inexpensive, approx $15 shipped for all parts, and practical for when you park in unlit parking lots. Even some illuminated lots are pretty dim.

Not all of us have th luxury of a garage or or 8-4 jobs. Well, my job is 730 to 430 but I have school that goes from 600 to about 930 at night after work and I have no interest in keeping my bag in plain sight even if there is nothing but notebooks, textbooks, and pens. Out of sight, out of mind - less temptation for someone who might be looking for something to steal. I do live in an area known as the meth capitol of SoCal that also happens to be in the most impoverished county of California. Military base or not...one can never be too careful.
