Well I burned through the OEM tires like clockwork. (30,000 miles and they are ready to go) I guess that is all you get normally with the 94V rated tires ...
Anyway, I have a few ideas for what I am looking to do.
I originally wanted to go with an H rated tire, but due to the loss of gas mileage, I think that makes me stray away from that. (I am not worried about a softer ride, nor the loss of grip cause I most likely would go with the Goodyear Triple Tread which are rated for crazy grip)
However I have it narrowed down to 2 tires basically. Both 215/55/17 94V Rated
Cooper vs. Bridgestone
I burn through tires fairly fast.
I did 15 months for my 30,000 miles and the first set, mainly highway, Michelin Energy MXV4
I guess my question is, has anyone had some good experiences with either of the tires ?
The Bridgestone is a new tire, and from what I hear is suppose to be a great tire. While the Cooper’s price and specs are better.
Or
Should I just go with a 94H rated tire like the Goodyear and expect to gain more miles for my money ?
But perhaps suffer at the pump ?
I drive highway, mostly at 80 mph approximately 75% of the time.
What do you all think ?

I don't see how an H-rated tire would hurt gas mileage... if anything, the harder compound should equate to less rolling resistance and thus improve mileage. Either way, I don't think you're going to see a dramatic difference.
Personally, I strongly prefer Michelin tires, having had bad experiences with Firestone (same company as Bridgestone), General, and Goodyear.
Why not look at the Michelin Primacy MXV4 in 94H? The treadwear is 620 instead of 440, and Michelin provides a 60,000mi. warranty.
Tread compound doesn't transfer directly to a tire's speed rating. Speed rating mostly has to do with the tire's ability to dissipate heat. A harder compound doesn't make the sidewall and/or the bead stiffer either, so it has a lesser effect on resistance than the actual tire construction.
A great OEM tire is the Michelin HXMX M4. They are V rated and last a very long time. I will probably get 100,000 + miles out of mine. They grip very well (less so in snow), are extremely quite, and wear VERY well.
Of course they cost quite a bit more, but the tread wear and the overall performance makes them a bargain in my book.

I have looked into the Primacy again .... it just isn't up to par with the other tires .... if you compare the bridgestone and the michelin on tirerack, the michelin gets horrible (6-7 ratings) while in the smae category the bridgestone gets 8-9 ratings ....
i also have been a michelin guy in the past, but these last shoes left a bad taste to me .... I might look into TRD's suggestion

I am biased towards the TripleTreds; I've had three sets. They are great in wet weather, and given our weird weather patterns, they've been wonderful. More road noise than normal, but I can drive in heavy rain confidently. If all-season is what you want, they live up to the hype.

I just bought a set of Michelin Destiny's at Discount Tire. They were a huge improvement over the OEM tires. They are quiet, my car drives better than new now. I am loving my car again. Give them a look on Discount Tire website.
just bought two of the goodyear triple tread so far decent, two goodyear eagle gt-hr on the back. went through the stock continentals quite fast, replace them with goodyear eagle gt-hr. they were better considering h rated over t rated stocks. eagle gt-hr on my fronts wore out fast compared to the back so hence the two triple tread and two eagle gt-hr. havent tested them in the rain or snow yet. paid $130 for each tire including the mounting, balance and tire removal.
A popular national "club" has Consumer Reports' highly rated "X" for about the same $$$ as a State wide "radio screamer" has Yokos. I can't figure if these are similar or not !
I got used to a Goodyear Eagle of some kind that drove well but lasted only about 40k .
These new tires supposedly get 60 to 70k .... I guess that's not all bad ...but maybe they are toooo hard ?
Anyone know ?
