08 V6 Dashboard noises

Hey guys I've read this forum for a few months now and im thankful for all the information you've provided.

It seems like I'm not the only one with dashboard noises. It seems to be coming from the front left speaker and right speaker, sometimes even in the middle where the clock is. I've read another thread where they said it only occurs when its cold and I just realized that too. Now it is warming up and the noises are gone because interior is warm, how can I reproduce the sound at the dealership? I've told them several times about this before hand but I've doubt they recorded anything. What should I do? I don't want to be pissed off at the noises again during winter.

Also the rear right speaker rattles a lot when I play music with some bass. Is that covered under warranty? Or is there I fix I can do by myself (I rather do it my self if given the information)

Thanks

Turn down your volume or control you bass... that's the easiest fix you can do with your rear speaker.. there's a TSB out for the tweeters, search for that

Sorry. I respectfully disagree.
If they are going to put in an 440w system then damn it the cabin should not rattle, squeak, or buzz.

I have mine it for front and rear sounds myself. Drives me nuts to here that Bass Buzz.
We should not have to put up with it. It needs better insulation between the joints of the 'plastic'.
Or....Different and/or thicker materials all together...

I can understand for the 2007's having this problem at first....then remedied after they found out about it.
I will give any car maker that benefit of the doubt....
BUT...an 2008 model? No...that should have been redesigned by now.

I just got mine back from the shop on a few things getting down along with my Protection Package yearly deal.

They re-fixed my front dash.
They re-fixed my B & C Pillars.
They re-Insulated my back window speaker board.

The car sounds good. I cranked it up all the way home with Full Bass (5) as with the Treble and Mid Range and did not hear that God Awful BUZZZZZ!

I even set the Rear Fade setting to 1 in the rears to balance out the stereo.

Really? What did you have to do in order for them to get this stuff done? Was this covered under warranty?

And I know this is dumb question but what is B & C pillars?

Yes, it is under warranty. I have 14.5K miles on it but it is over a year old so the Extended Warranty took effect...I think.
Maybe not...Don't know actually because the Service Manager at Spartan Toyota always simply does things for me.
For Example I had the rear brake TSB already done but I was still getting the 'back up squeak'.
He simply had them take the glaze off my rotors. (Shaking Fist at MRS DOOD! Grrrrr!)
He could have charge me for that but chose not too. That to me is SERVICE with a Smile!

A,B,C Pillars are the front, middle, rear pillars by your windows.
Your Air Bags hide in them so they have to be 'lose' to a point I would suspect so they fire off when needed.

Still, the Service Manager agrees that the Camry's 440w system should not make all that racket while driving.

"In order to get this done" IS simply be very kind and thoughtful from the get go when dealing with any service department.
It doesn't mean you have to be a push over. I am firm but kind.
I always bring the Service Manager 'gifts' anyways.
I look at it as a Gradtuity more then a Bribe.
We live in a 'Tipping Culture' even if there are people that do not believe in this sort of thing.
Go to any big city and you will learn this very quickly...
NO BODY will go the extra mile for you if you come in guns blazing.
They are people too and deserve at least some measure of respect.
Hell, I get a loaner even when I bring my Camry in for an Oil Change if I want.

EDIT: By the way there are no dumb questions...only dumb answers.
How else are you going to learn if you do not speak up and ask?

Thanks a lot man.

I got a few more questions. What exactly did they do with your front dash? I'm just going nuts with all those noises. Did they also put foam in for your rear speakers? Also when I put my knee against the door it creaks so much, do you have this problem?

Man my brakes squeak a lot also. It cant be worn out and I have a feeling if I say it squeaks a lot they will just replace it with new one and charge me for it. New car shouldnt squeak :S

The fix for the dash is included in TSB which requires the dealer to essentially disassemble the dash and add a couple thicker felt pads. I found some foam rubber packing, about .200 thick, cut a couple pieces out about 1 x 2 inches and pushed them down between the dash and the windshield using a very thin flexible ruler. Pushed the stuff as far as I could get it and problem solved. No trip to the dealer and no disassembled dash to start rattling later.

I honestly do not exactly know what they did with the squeaks.
They were busy and I didn't have time to talk to my actual mechanic.
I was in a hurry myself.
I do know they took out my rear window board where the speakers are and insulated it better along with the pillars.
Most of my front dash squeaks I noticed the colder outside it was.
That styro-foam rubbing sound.
The thing is I do not drive the Camry as much as my wife does.
(She considers it HER car which is fine. It actually is simply the 'Family Car' when we use one for the clan.)
Mainly on the weekends if any at all so that is when *I* notice things.
Since I drive my Park Avenue mostly then I have a pretty good 'feel' for the Camry when something is not 'right'.
Then I ask my wife about 'This & That' then she replies: "Oh, yes it is doing THAT..." Grrrr! <Shaking Fist! >

As for the brakes have you had the TSB done on them?
There is one for front and rear brakes.
As I said ealier mine have already been done but, the Service Manager said he just had them take the glaze off my rotors.
He could have easily charged me for that but, chose not too.

He was also very appreciative that I brought the loaner back promply.
They needed all they could get for other customers today.
So I came in a few hours earlier then I was planning too.
A minor inconvenience for me if that makes their jobs easier.
It only helps down the road when I really need some help from them.
A little give and take is a Good Thing.
Plus they gave me a Camry LE which I really didn't care to have.
We only put 32 miles on it. I had Mrs Dood drive it to work.
The Service Manager knew I wanted an Avalon and he was bummed he couldn't provide it after telling me he could.

I'm stumped I tried looking in service manual and spent 2 hours on it and can't close it correctly. ( 1 more minor detail) Now the bottom right clip had a gold metal clip about 1 inch that does "something" for the clip to function properly. It came off and I lost it. Should I just bring it back to toyota and have them fix it? Or what should I do?

Help is greatly appreicated and I will never touch anything else I jsut wanted to get to know cars better hands on.

You give me far too much credit.
