I notice a big difference when I switch from shell to “chevron”. I use 87 rated octane gas on my 2007 se I4 & notice better gas mileage, what are you guys using?
yeah i try to only use Chevron's gas just cause I think its better than the other competitors or Exxon, mostly Chevron's
if your asking about the octane, you should use whats recommended by the manufacture which is 87, you could use anything higher but all your doing is burning money away and it may cause knocking/ I'm not sure about that but I just put regular since its ok to do so
and this is just me talking, not sure if my facts are right but the higher octane you go, the more richer the fuel is which is more likely to burn off quicker than regular (87-"thicker") gasoline, but thats just how i see it, may be wrong

Reverse that, lower octane is more prone to knocking compared to higher octane.
Side note: Manual says "87 or higher".

my mistake but still y not use regular(87) when u CAN and its cheaper
Huh? I think you spent too much time on Lower Greenville last night. Nobody is saying to use anything other than regular gas, perhaps from a top tier supplier, but still regular. Depending upon your altitude, regular will be rated from 85 to 87 octane.

Haha, I already spent much in excess of 30k on my car already...why would I want to save a few bucks every fill up? Manual says 87 or better and I take the best I can get - every time. Contrary to some posts I doubt better gas actually has any negative impact on your car performance or longevity. If any, it helps. Lets just calculate: I save 3 bucks (simply taking Njerald's quote) a tank for 360miles...after 36000miles I saved $300...36000miles takes me almost 3 years, i.e. $100/year more only for better gas?! If you are concerned about that kind of money - stop buying new gadgets for your car and you save so much more.
In order to save dollars, you have to start with pennies

I typically use 89 or 93 octane at Murphy Oil. My manual says 91 but we don't have that here. I do notice a difference if I use 87, it causes knocking.
