I test drove and was a day away from buying an 08 Accord EXL V6. I liked the interior and it drove good but as soon as I got into the Camy SE V6 I loved it. Then I took it for a test drive to show my wife and decided on the way there that I was going to buy it. There is a lot of talk of how superior the Accord interior is to the Camry but IMO the Camry interior is just as nice. I also feel that the Camry rides more to my liking with its sporty feel. To each his own.............

I test drove an Accord (forgot which model) before getting my car. I actually drove both the I-4 and V6 versions of an XLE Camry first, but didn't like those. Was seriously considering the Accord until I drove an '07 SE V6. It was love at first sight/drive...

The first time that I drove my Camry was AFTER I purchased it. I never drove my car before I bought it and never drove anything else for comparison.

Maxima, Altima, Miata, Mini Cooper-S, v4/6 Accord, RX-7/8

Then determined price, reliability, and performance.

Some were just for shits and giggles though.

I considered the Acura TL Type S, but when I saw and drove the SE-V6, it was just too damn sexy not to buy.

Used 2004 Subaru Legacy GT in Red. Compared to the Camry, I thought the driver's side and overall cabin space was too small to haul the family around. In terms of performance, it was very fun to drive. Thought it was a "sleeper" compared to its wrx/sti bretheren since I hardly ever see these cars on the road. Came very close to buying it but the dealership would not budge on pricing. Ended up with the Camry because I fell in love with its new looks and its history of reliability.

I tested the Altima but felt that the ride was too bumpy, built was not as solid and cloth interior were not as nice as the Camry. Transmission wasn't smooth and the car made more noise. I love the look of the SE. One thing that I really like about the Altima is their keyless start.

i test drove an 02 jetta vr6 6 speed manual,.. i liked it but they wanted 14grand for it and even though it only had 35000 miles on it, it was a little more than i wanted to pay. So i chose to lease the camry, if i hadnt gotten this i probably wouldve leased a new jetta or even a passat

I have driven a Fusion a few times. I like it but it seems...unfinished.
I tested out a Mazda6 V6. I really liked it but I was a little concerned about the reliability and the quality of the interior. I own a Mazda3, it's a fun car to drive but the carpet and headliner are the cheesiest POS that I have ever seen in a car.
I also drove a Corolla LE at the same dealership where I bought my Camry. I liked it a lot but for the same money I got a Camry CE. Then a few months later I traded in the CE for an LE V6. I have no regrets at all. OK that's a lie. I wish I could have afforded an SE V6. Oh well, maybe next time.

I drove a 2007 VW Rabbit 2.5, and also 2007 VW GTI 2.0T.

The thing is that I drove a 2005 Echo Hatchback (5 door of course) before I got the Camry. So I didn't even "know" I was considering large cars.

But then I thought...if putting down $32000 Canadian for a VW GTI is OK by me, why not look at what else is available for that money. And by the way, I was NOT impressed with the VW hatchbacks at all.

I checked out the new Yaris hatchback, but it just didn't offer much extra over my then-current Echo except for the power front windows.

Honestly, the only "serious" contender to the Camry was a pre-owned BMW 330i between 2003 and 2004 model years. We once owned a brand new 2002 330i in the family, so I have very fond memories of that unreliable, yet extremely fun car.

At the end of the day, the Camry SE V6 drove in a very similar manner to the way the old Bimmer had, plus it was visibly faster, and almost as long as a stretch limo. I fell in love as soon as I drove it.

Originally, when I went to check out the Camry, I was looking at either the Hybrid or an LE V6. I didn't want to bother with a straight 4-banger because I believed (and still do) that there is insufficient power.

I did not bother to test-drive the Honda Accord because I don't want to be associated with the kind of "trash" that makes up the Honda driver group here in Toronto. Furthermore, I was in love with the way the Gen6 Camry looked.

I did not consider any of the American brands because I believe they're P.O.S. (especially anything made by General Motors).

I could have checked out a Nissan Altima, but the interior was just too bland and I never even test-drove one.
