5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Basically what TRD VVTi is implying, is that it's impossible for us to tell you how long it will last. There are so many variables, a few examples would be how often did you change your oil, did you do other scheduled maintenance, what are your driving conditions, etc. The point is, no one can say for certain how much longer it will last, but I'd say that other components will start to fail before the engine completely dies.
mus0021, I got a stock 04, too. Only 40,000 miles. I was wondering what kind of repairs have you done to yours with 190K miles. Did you get this car new or used?
my gf has a 97 with 262,000 on it. it still drives

~And how much money do you think I could get on a trade in? (I know not very much but I need an estimate) thanks guys

190,000..?? Damn thats alot of miles!!
Probably need a rebuild soon. Rings, main bearings, valve seats...
You're right. However, I don't think it's worth it investing any money in a car with more than 100000 miles on it. Sell it and get something new (or newer, used).

Some of us have put well over 300,000 miles on a motor w/o a rebuild. My old '83 Toyota truck(22R motor) has over 400,000 miles on it and is still on the road - no rebuild.
In my opinion, 190K is a long ways from being done unless maint. services were not performed regularly or the vehicle was driven harshly.
my 98 Camry has 306k on it. It ran fine but the dealer decided he wanted to do the sludge rebuild at 236K when I had it in for service and Toyota covered it. I did oil changes every 6k or so with synth or syth blend. It is still running fine after 60K post rebuild. your car is still young!
depends how well you take care of it. I know some cabbies who have well over 500 000 on their original engines. I wouldn't sell it with that high mileage. you would get better value out of it by driving it till it dies, as you would have to sell it for cheap
