5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I'm a fan of brown/saddle colored leather so I asked one of my friends to chop the red rock interior from the Tundra on the camry and this is what he came up with:
IMO, as much as I love this color leather, there is too much silver plastic on the inside of the car and I really feel like it fights.
I was actually thinking the same thing. The dark wood that the 08 XLE has would look good on the silver area around the door handles and maybe a bit on the center console.

I'm not feeling. It could be the way the interior is laid out or like mentioned, the color. How it looks that doesnt fit in. Plus, its not often you see colors like that in a car. Its usually gray, black, beige

I think that's why I love the color so much. Black, tan, and grey have become so mainstream that I think Saddle/Cinnamon is so much richer and more unique.
I love it. Just not sure if it's right for the Camry with all of that silver plastic...and I would want to change the interior lighting to orange. Not sure if that's possible.
yeah the thing is those are all 60, 70, 80 thousand dollar cars.. they can make it work, they have wood grain and other expensive stuff

I think the woodgrain is the biggest thing, like you mention. This color leather is very warm and rich, and metal is quite cold. Maybe an aftermarket dash kit or the one from the XLE would make it look better.

These actually look a lot better as the color is darker and the interior also has similar colors.
1. It can be done; I'm sure most upholstery shops could take the seats out of a Camry, unsew the leather seat covers, use the panels as patterns to cut out new panels from different-colored leather, and sew it back together again. Price? Not cheap, but not outrageous, either. Maybe $1,000 - $2000.
2. I don't think that the saddle leather works in a black interior -- it's got to be a darker color leather than that. Or a lighter interior. The most fabulous thing I've ever seen outside of a total custom interior, though, was the current BMW 3-series with deep red leather -- INCREDIBLY NICE. Something like that would look great in a black Camry interior.
3. Agreed with everyone that the silver kind of kills the concept. The silver bits work just fine with the black interior, but if you want lighter-colored seats, then I'd want to change out those silver bits. One of those dash kits with a dark, reddish woodgrain would be excellent....
i'm gonna go with no on this one. as someone else said, the other pics are of luxury cars with woodgrain trim. our interiors are made of plastic. if your interior ends up like the photoshop, i'd say it looked like someone threw up on your seats.
