question for HID experts

i looked for an answer to this on hid planet but couldn't find one. Here is my question

I understand that putting HID's into a reflector can cause a bit of glare, as reflectors are not designed to handle that amount of light output. Would putting hid's in an ebay projector headlight, granted a very poor quality projector, but a projector nevertheless, have less glare than just putting them in stock halogen reflectors?

I know retrofitting is the way to go but I don't have the time, and i'm really not anal about perfect beam pattern and cutoff point. Honestly, I would rather spend $150 for a decent to good improvement rather than $500-$600 for a huge improvement. I've driven my friend's car at night with an hid kit in reflector housing and the light output is very good and worth the $150 for a kit. My main concern is just to minimize glare as much as possible and wondering if a cheap ass taiwan projector would help. Planning on getting 4300k

thanks 4 your help

It will have less glare than using reflector headlamps for sure, but ...eh, it'll have an ugly cutoff lol. Ask steveyhustle on here. He did it before.

Glaring blue HID bulbs are NOT classy, and don't make your car look nice, no matter what that kid in the Civic told you.

Instead of getting projectors on ebay get them from www.xtralights.com
But the ones from that sites do not give you as much glare as the stock headlight reflectors.

Got this pic from mj1220mj over at HID planet:

I wouldn't call myself an expert, but if you had the right glare shield, you might make HID work in a reflector housing without too much glare. Look into a 9006 rebased D2R for the Gen5? Either that or retrofit.

The HID lighting is only as good as the projector or lamp it sits in.

Just because there are hot spots, doesn't necessarily mean its a plug and play kit:

hot spots are a problem of two main things:

1. Poor focal point due to either bulb not being installed correctly or bulb is manufactured poorly.

2. Projector it self is a poorly designed projector (very common with H3 projectors)
