Wheel and Tire size Inquiry.

hello guys.

I know you guys are tired of these "newbie" questions, but please help me

out..

I was thinking about replacing my stock SE rims and tires with

TFT(TFT rims, 18"x7.5JJ) rim with Continental General Exclaim UHP Tires,

225/40ZR18.

when I ran tire size calculator on those numbers, I got Diameter Difference:

4.68% when compared to Stock SE rims and tires.

The calculator I used said I should stay with in 3% differences in order to

avoid break failure.

The tires are already mounted on the rims and I am getting them used from

my friend.

Would I be okay if I use that rims and tires on My 2007 Camry SE I4?

The car is in stock condition.

Thank you and have a great day.

they would throw off your speedo and odometer rating.
also, having 225/40/18 on a stock SE would make the tire gap look HUGE!

the least i would do is switch to 225/45/18 tires.

I agree...a 225/45/18 is very close to stock diameter.

thank you for your reply Moky.

Other than speedmeter being off and gaps looking big, will I have any mechanical problem

with my car?

I have the TRD wheels (18X7.5) and Toyota puts 225/45/18 for the TRD wheels.

I'd say go with what Toyota recommends. End of discussion.

Gearing...the car might shift sooner. I know my Miata was very sensitive to wheel sizes. Big wheel, tall gearing, smaller wheel, shorter gearing. Think of it as close ration gearing almost. Maybe not the correct way to phrase it. You might not like the way it feels.

Cars are very sensitive to changes like wheel/ tire size. Not just in weight (disruption of unsprung weight) but ultimately, you could slightly alter the suspension geometry and effect the handling.

Pass on the deal and do it right. You asked becuase you KNOW the answer, you just needed to hear it from someone else (to the OP).
