5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Looking to get a SE V6 (nav, moonroof, vsc..dont know about leather) by end of year or same time next year (Feb/March). I know 2009 came out last month or so and Toyota has released Camry's early of the year. If I calculated correctly with my spending and savings, I will have enough to pay off the car in full by end of year (I dont like debt or having to pay interest. Paid off $60k in college loans in 1.5 years).
I couldnt find any info and probably wont on the 2010 but what do you think would change if any? I dont know how much changed between 2007 and 2008 but I know there wasnt much changed on 2008 and 2009. Cosmetic probably wouldnt change much and I dont think engine or interior. You think they'll put turning side view mirrors for 2010?
Since its so close to the end of the year, should I get the 2009 or wait a couple more months and get 2010? This would be my first Toyota (have a Ford Taurus and Honda Odyssey) and wanted to know how much Toyota changes as each year progresses from veterans on the board.
Well, the 2010 should be the gen 6.5. Be looking for some relatively minor cosmetic changes, potentially an engine change, maybe a few other changes. I'm excited to see what they've cooked up.

So half way through its current gen, they do some light changes? Any useful links that usually have these informations or when we should start expecting some info or we find out once its been released? I dont want to wait until 2010 comes out and than they stop manufacturing 2009 and wont be able to get what I want. Although, price would be cheaper on 2009 model.
I know they changed the rear tail-lights, they went from red/white/red to white/red/white. I honestly don't know what else changed on the Gen 5's. I've got a gen 6 and had a Gen 3. in the gen 3 they got a new V6, bumper design changes, and light changes.

On Avalon they changed the front-end a bit. I doubt they will make many changes for 2010 to the Camry. There have been no changes from 2007 - 2009. I am driving a 2009 now. What has been changed are various components to improve quality.
One thing for sure is that the 2010 Camry will cost more.

What makes you think that? I know newer years cost a couple hundred ($100-400) more but not a lot. Didnt the 2009 cost more than the 2008 but only a little? Same with all makes and models.
Hoping I can get a fully loaded SE V6 (minus leather) for about $27k-28k
Hmmm, I have to disagree with Tek completely. They have been making a .5 gen change the 4th year of each gen since at least the gen 3, (possibly longer, i'm not familiar with 1 and 2). I don't see a reason they won't for gen 6. As for the cost it will go up a bit, as normal, but not drastically like he's implying. There is no reason to think otherwise.
The Gen 6.5 will be the 2010 model year, they will include a 2.7L I4 engine to replace the current 2.4L I4, which will also get a 6-speed automatic transmission. There will also be the traditional front and rear bumper/light changes, and some minor interior design changes.

Wrong, there will be changes, just as there was for the 2004-2005, 1999-2000, 1994-1995 model Camry's. Toyota has never made any significant changes between the initial release and mid-gen refresh. The only major change between the 2007 and other model years is the different colored wood grain, different color choices, and a few different options.
^^ haha, don't expect it to look like the crown :P
I wouldn't be too surprised though if the tail lights look more similar to the Asian Camry's, as thats a similar style as the Gen 5.5 tail lights were.

I heard the 2010 camry is a newly design one and it will be looks like the present Asian model.
Don't believe the HYPE! Toyota needs to work out the kinks so expect a 6.5 in 2010. If then u could wait 2 more years expect to see a new design..
