non-JBL to JBL

I recently bought a 08 Camry Hybrid without the JBL sound system in it. I wanted to add XM, so I purchased a 2007 JBL head unit from eBay.

A couple of questions:

Do I need to purchase an amplifier (there doesn't seem to be one with the system that was installed)?

Any suggestions on an OEM XM tuner?

Do I need mid-range speakers?

Thanks...

Yes, you need an amp and probably would be good to have the actual JBL with that headunit. Once you got the amp, you need two mid's for the dash, two woofers for the front door, and 2 2-way speakers for the back. ...that is if you like to duplicate the JBL setup.

PS: I thought the hybrid comes with the JBL anyway, not?

Yes, normally the hybrid does come with the JBL system, but I got a great deal on this car without the system.

What I tried to say was that I am surprised you even have the option to not have the JBL....but you got it w/o the JBL and therefore its possible, I guess.

I think the character that sold me the JBL head unit on eBay saw a sucker. Now I'm stuck with a JBL head unit that I can't use unless I buy a bunch more stuff.

Live and learn, I reckon.

But thanks for the feedback. It's been most helpful...
