'02 Camry Front End Clunk

I have an 'o2 LE V6 that has developed a clunking noise when going over bumps in the front suspension on the right side. I suspicious of the strut mounts. The car has about 75K on it and it has the original struts and has never had any front end work done.

Has anyone had experience with this repair? Any thoughts as to the most likely cause? I'd sure appreciate your thoughts before turning myself over to the dealer!

Thanks to all!

Had the same noise on my 99 LE. There was a TSB on the part (?) at the top of the strut.

One of the Techs on the forum should know. (If they can resist telling you to search.)

Ya it could be a strut bearing but search for similar problems. Is the wheel bearing ok? grab the wheel and yank it see if you can feel anything move. Jack the sucker up and look it over for bushings ECT. Good luck

P.S. I am not sure but that may be the drive axle side see if the boot around the universal is ripped if it is, sand and water can get in and the bearings wear out real fast. The thing looks kind of like a shifter boot kind of.

I had a similar problem and it turned out to be a bracket holding the sway bar that had become loose. Check those bolts as well. Good Luck.
