Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
so as some of u guys know, i jux got my exhaust installed yesterday n today, i showed it to my friend n we raced n wat not jux for fun n jux to see how the sound goes, he drives a TSX w/ Tanabe catback n Injen CAI n DC headers, but thats not important
but after the race, we hung out at the park near my house n then when we started to split, i startded driving in the ally n i start to hear these squeaking noises, n it seems like whenever i go over some bumps itll start to squeak but the thing is that it doesnt happen constantly and at some point when im breaking itll squeak even more
the only way i can describe the noise is kinda close to when a airplane starts to land and brakes u know the sound that it makes? its kinda like that BUT really, not that dramatic hahah iono how to describe it = / in a way it kidna sounds like metal against metal but then the squeaking isnt like hhiigghh pitch
so theres two things, one, im already at 39k miles on my car (yes i know that is a LOT) n its time to replace my brake pad BUT the only thing that second guess my self about the noise coming from the brakes is that it happens when im driving also (this all happen driving slowly, not quite sure about fast cause my exhaust is loud haha) but not constantly but when i brake, its more....
oh n i have TRD drop too, i think it is my shocks cause most of the time, i drive as if i didnt lower my car haha = / if it is my shocks, no question about it, then lesson learned, i hope not tho, isnt it expensive?!
and another thing, i can only hear it when my windows r down and when i got out of the car i started to push my car up and down at all 4 sides to try to hear the squeaking but nothing = /
assuming that it is my shocks, what is the best brand n place to get my shocks replaced? i would like to go coils but i really dont have the money for em =[
assuming that is it my brakes/pads what is the best product? doesnt TRD have brake pads for our cars?
sorry for the messy description and everything

that i wouldnt be sure of since i never had busted shocks in any of my cars.
just take them to a dealership and see what they say and play 'dumb' when letting them check your shocks.

haha n how do i do that? i cant simply say, hey can u check my shocks? and brakes unless they check the shocks as part of the "multi point inspection"

Just for the record, your car has struts, not shocks. They're a little more involved to replace than shocks. If you only have 39k miles on the cars, your struts should still be fine. Most are good for at least 70k. To check them, bounce each corner of the parked car up and down a few times and let go. It the car continues bouncing, the struts need replacement. If not, they're probably OK. Check underneath with a light to see if they're leaking any fluid. If one is leaking, always replace the set - front or rear. Your brake pads could be worn out at 39K. They have a squeal detector to warn you that they need replacement. If you hear squealing when you brake, time for a brake job. Do it before the rotors and/or drums are shot too. Good luck. Hy

haha it actually turned out to be the J hook for the exhaust broke off n it was jux scrapping so thats where the squealing came from but i do need to get my brake pads replaced soon, they're not really squealing but yea thanks doode =] n everyone else
