hi, i just got into a accident in sandiego 20-30 mph and i hit another car, no airbags deployed and the damage is pretty, well let the picture do the talking. my insurance isnt comprehensive, (just liability )so right now i have no idea what my car title is, salvaged or whatever cause the insurance company won't look at my car. i put my car in a autobody shop, and yes the quote for fix is 11k, including labor. the frame bent, the hood bent, the bumper crashed too, the radiator leaked so forth. i think i would just want to sell the car as is, since fixing it would cost around 10k, so i was wondering if you guys would know how much my car would fetch if i were to sell it to junkyard/anyone??? my car cant start up or move now, so putting it anyway will incur the parking lot fee( towyard or autoshop ) and also towing fee, since im pretty certain i won't be fixing my camry since 10k is just ridiculous ! so anyone knows how much i can sell it for, or say what should i do with my car now =( =( =( =( thanks in advance and sorry if its a repost!
Wow man that sucks!! Hope you are okay and sorry to hear about your situation.

You wont get much for it. Majority of your costs is going towards fixing the frame. You plan on buying a new car? Also why not get full coverage from the get-go? You should always get full coverage on new cars until the 5th-7th year in or so and bump it to liability.
If you're getting a new car, that money you spent on buying a new one could of went towards fixing it. Just know that if you do fix it, it probably wont drive the same.
Sorry to see your vehicle like that.
I am amazed your Air Bags did not deploy.
Neither the 'new' Knee one either?
I have no clue to what it is worth.
It is a Parts car now. Someone will take it off your hands for that.
I see you have performance tires on it so you were taking care of it?
They might be worth something.
How is the interior? Seats OK?
So did you get the ticket? Was this a rear end collision?
Is the other driver coming after you?

well, in short i mistook the TURN LEFT green sign for my STRAIGHT AHEAD green light, the car from the other junction went straight and i hit the car. that car was alright ( surprisingly ) but mine wasnt. no idea why too, it was a toyota corolla that i hit, i dont think its the issue with being able to bring up 10k, its more like it doesnt make sense to fix it ! if i can sell it for 8k, i would sell it straight away without thinking and top myself another few thousand to get another second hand car. problem is how much can this fetch ! =(
Wow, sorry to see this happenned especially to a San Diegan.
Like everyone else said you won't get much out of this.
You can try it a couple of ways.
1. See if any local repair/body shops will buy it from you. The maximum you can get is maybe around $2000 to $5000. The reason I said that is because if it going to cost $10k to fix plus $5k that I will pay you upfront then I will have to resale this car above $15k to make any money. Plus it is a risky investment. Your only hope is for the owner of a bodyshop, his/her real cost is a lot less than $10k then you might have a chance of selling your car at higher than $5k. But I seriously doubt that.
2. If nobody will buy your car then sell all parts (ebay, craigslist, for sale section in this forum). You can sell your aftermarket rims, seats then sell it cheap to the junk yards.
Again, sorry for your loss.

I promise I won't get too preachy. If you can only see $5k out of the car and it will take $10k to fix it, then you spend the money. You can't go out in all probability and get a comparable car for $15k, so to some extent it is a deal. If you were only going 30 mph, the frame might need tweaking but it probably isn't too bad. From your pix, it didn't look as bad as what we've seen here before. Get another quote; you can get it fixed for less than ten grand.
Secondly, not having comprehensive insurance is just fine IF you are willing and ABLE to assume the risk. Comprehensive is expensive, so if you are a good driver with a long, safe record, and you have, say $25k in a CD, then sure, you can be self insured and just bank the savings from not paying the ridiculously high premiums. But you must be willing to cash that CD if you have to. In this instance it looks like a marginal deal.

but I have to agree with some of hte others on here....you're better off taking it to a different shop and getting it fixed. You probably will get 5K at the most if you sell it as a parts car. The worst part is that you said that the car won't even run- so that's a lot of risk to take for anybody to buy it.
I'd say, pull hte frame and then replace the panels. Paint, which would cost at least a grand in this instance, if not more, depending on the body shop, can wait. Same with a lot of other little things. Ask a shop how much a budget fix- just enough to get the car back on the road- would cost.

i ever thought of bringing to another shop to fix it, the problem is i have to pay another $200 plus to tow the car, if it fails i have to pay another $200 again to tow my car away from the other shop. i doubt i will fix it, firstly it wouldnt feel good to drive the car the way it is now ( after it is hit ). nopes i didnt rear ended someone, more like side-ended someone. i thought of parts out, but parts out will cost time and money to do parts out. i can prolly sell the rims away, the suspensions, ( prolly i can get 800-1k out of it ) and just sell the car frame??
someone just quote me $4000. it sucks to hear even below $5000. totally screwed up!! i had a friend who had all the airbags deployed on a honda accord, flipped the car 180 degree with serious injury and that car could get 4grand ! i just think 4 grand is a little too little for it?
i have next wednesday to get the car out from the autoshop. i should know what to do by then..
