Question Updating Nav System in an 02 Camry

Sorry for the newb question I'm a Taco/4-Runner guy. I bought my wife the nav update for her 02 Camry the other day. I did a search but didn't get much in the way of actually doing the update. Is it as simple as give it power, eject the old disk, put the new disk in and be done? I'm worried about losing all the maintenance numbers and saved locations that we have. Will it wipe all this out??
