How to disconnect the trunk lock release lever cable?
I have a Camry 2002 and want to disconnect the cable from the lever that releases the trunk lock. I used to do that in earlier models but this one I can't see which way to get the access to disconnect the cable. It has a electrical connection to the lock for the remote key function for opening the trunk.
Most of the time I pull that lever accidently and have to get out of the car to lock it again.
You could just dissable it to open with the lever.... I believe you just turn the key in the key hole on the trunk to the left, and it may dissable the lever in the car.

Yes, that can do, but I prefer to disconnect that cable.
Another reason is the theft. Last night someone broke into my car and opened the trunk by pulling the lever. That is why all of a sudden I asked this question. Stolen several things.
Another question, since you are familiar with this. How can someone get in the car without triggering the alarm? This is a Camry XLE with Toyota security system. He didn't break the glass but some how opened the door. I wonder why the alarm didn't blew out.
But doing the above procedure will yield the same results as disconnecting the cable.
Perhaps the car wasnt locked? Was the handle or door lock cylinder damaged in any way?

The only way to disable it would be the remote, or to turn the lock cylinder... Have you lost a key lately? lol.
Was the car locked when you returned to it the next day? Perhaps you accidentely pulled the lever while exiting your car as you said before, didnt realize it, and left the trunk popped?

The trunk was closed for sure since I came back from the grocery store in the evening and took all the bags out So, I am sure trunk was closed. Moreover, they took the cash around $20 to 25 from the driver side drawer and some stuff from the glove box. Somehow they opened the door.
Car was opened in the morning.
I have three keys and a plastic key. All with me in the home.
I wonder any electronic device available to open this kind of electronic locks without that chip embedded key.
No alarm will sound and easy to get in when the car isn't locked........
Yes, that is true. So, if it is closed , the alarm should sound. That is what I am trying to find out. Any new method these thieves come up with to disable it.
Today I noticed that all the 6 CDs in the player has gone. That means that person have a key to open the door that can be used to turn on the switch. Isn't it?
