I honestly don't understand why anybody would buy a performance muffler w/o removing their cat and getting at least 2.5" all the way through. If these came with the whole down pipes and cat back system, I would definitely look into it.

Maybe for the same reason you do not want to put a $25 relay harness on your HID kit? Just a thought .

Because I like the sound.

Here is a comparison between the two:
14851:
14829:
There is no much difference between the two. I'm sure they both sound different.

Maybe. But I have thought of a way to get around having to install wires all over my engine compartment. Besides, the HID kit is a full performance package within itself. Just buying mufflers is not. All I was trying to say is that if I personally bought any performance exhaust system, I'd get the whole thing. Mufflers may make it sound cool, but throwing out the cat would make it sound even better and give a real performance boost at the same time. The catalytic converter is the bottleneck, not the mufflers. I'm just going to wait it out for DCsport or somebody to come out with a complete system.
The guy at the muffler shop that installed my cat-back exhaust setup advised against getting an aftermarket cat. He said there are no gains with an aftermarket high-flow cat and said that the stock one was actually less restrictive. Any thoughts on this?

Replacing the cat - do as you wish, but throwing out the cat is a no-no in my eyes. We have too much environmental issues already and we do not need more people to make it worse by taking the cat out - it's in their for a purpose serving us all.
Changing the muffler and resonator is different - just changes the sound, maybe some performance but does not harm the environment.

I can't speak for everyone, but when I decided to replace my mufflers it wasn't to gain power, it was to improve the sound. Although I must say with my intake and mufflers, the car does feel a bit more responsive.
