5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
As I understand it, the Camry built in alarm will blow off only when someone open the door forcefully, or pull the lever to open the trunk or open the hood or disconnect the battery.
However, it won't alarm if someone use a duplicate key and open the door. Recently, someone got into my Camry 2002 stolen few things, including 6 CDs in the player. So, obviously, he has a key fit to turn on the switch.
I wonder what to do for an alarm to blow off if someone use a duplicate key?

Brand new car bought from the dealer. I bought it in Dec 2001 when the 2002 model came out.
No I didn't forget to lock it.
Quote:
Pardon me if your camry can automatically lock the door after you left the vehicle.
Yes it will automatically lock only if, we use the remote to open the door. If we open the door with the handle manually, it will not lock back automatically.
keep in mind someone can open your car door without having the key. I copied that from a movie.
I have an old camry 1999 with alarm built in. If last time i used a remote to open/lock the car, the next time I used the duplicated key to open the car, it will blow off immediately. But the duplicated key is still good to drive the car away.
