5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I've read from various sources that the overall quality of Camry's has apparently declined the last few years. Main gripes seem to concern interior fit/finish, squeaks/rattles, and V6 reliability. Can anyone here flesh this issue out more? Is is a legitimate concern? I've never owned a Toyota, but am seriously considering an '09 XLE 4-cyl.
The answers range from no problems to had so many problems that the owner couldn't wait to get rid of the car.
Bottom line per Consumers Reports:
The Toyotas have less problems/100 cars each year up to 10 years than any other make. Honda is about the same until the 4th year.
I personally have a 24 month old, 26,000 mile, I4 XLE that has had ZERO problems or concerns and gets great gas mileage.
Use the Search function on your individual questions, you'll find out for yourself and it's definitely not a Kool Aid site where everyone is gung ho Camry!!

Thanks. It does seem, that in the past, a Camry was the gold standard for quality & reliability, but now may be more of a crap shoot.

If you already made your opinion - why bother to ask on a Camry forum?
Obviously, a first look tells you their are terrible, crappy, and not worth the time to investigate. But at least I can assure you that you will not have an issue with the V6 (one of the concerns you heard) when you buy what you are seriously considering.
imo, most people always look at other comparable vehicles wen they are debating to buy a camry.
1) Toyota Camry
2) Honda Accord
3) Nissan Altima
4) Ford F650 Supercab.
Reliability, Toyota Camry takes the spot. The F650 doesn't have as much interior space as the Camry does. Honda Accord also has problems w/ their newer models. The Altima's CVT is GREAT on gas mileage (my friend averages 400 every time). The F650 is also a bit low on power, but makes up for it for the excellent gas mileage also. Its all up to you.
Just go for the F650, I hear they have great financing available. You can also qualify for the low emissions stickers, so u can ride in the carpool lane alone.

PS: Just recognize that this show F650 does not even have the stepping board to get into it...what you are supposed to do - do a nice one arm pull-up while the other hand opens the door :-( ...I knew drivers of these are freaks!
but seriously tho. this topic is mad redundant...a quick search will answer all your questions...or test a new 08 camry yourself and draw your own conclusions....
