I have a 2007 Camry and every time it rained I collected water in the left corner of the trunk - the plastic container would fill and, eventually, overflow. I removed and re-installed the weather stripping. It has been raining for the last two days (since I refitted the weather stripping), and the leak appears to have stopped.

Some observations:

1. I collected water while parked
2. The weather stripping was "kinked" prior to my refitting it

Hope this helps.

Wow, this is not encouraging. We've had our 2002 Camry LE since 2002. No accidents, etc. and never had a leak before. Now, every time we drive in the rain there's water in both sides of the trunk. The plastic holder on the left gets about 1" water in no time. We first used silicone caulk on the old weatherstrip without improvement. Then replaced weatherstrip without improvement. The water is coming in from the top on each side of the trunk, about mid-point. We have a call in to the dealer now.
About 5 years ago we had to replace the back window. Could that be the problem? Would the water only leak at this mid-point and not starting at the top, or further up the side???
Like looking for a needle in a haystack. We also tried spraying the hose and couldn't reproduce the leak.

Good observation with the new back window--I suspect that it was not installed properly.

A friend of mine works at a local Toyota dealership. He was mentioning a TSB for the Gen 6 with this issue. The rear spoiler was found to be where the water entered the trunk.

Thanks all. If we figure it out, I'll let you know. We've been real happy with the car and are hoping we can go another 100,000.

Hello,

To the OP, take it to the dealer and see if they have access to a company like LEAK PRO, we have 'em in the Toronto area and they are awesome at finding leaks, thats all they do!

They seem to be on the up and up of where all different makes and models leak, and they are usually pretty cheap.
