5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I am just about to take delivery of a 2009 Toyota Camry XLE I4. The dealer had to get the car from another dealer but they insisted on driving it. It will probably have at least 150 miles on it when I get it. Is it a bad idea? The price of the car was $25391 before taxes, and fees. I am sorta hesitant on taking delivery of a car that already has that many miles. I wanted the blue ribbon metallic color and no dealer around me had one.
Has anyone else taken delivery of a new car with that many miles on it?
150 really isn't much but I wouldn't want that many on my new car either.
My best friend had over 180 on his new car because they drove it from across the state for him.
When I got my car I had to get mine from Montana which kind of bummed me out.
But I requested them to trailer it over.
They told me it would take at least a week to get it and I said that's fine I would wait.
Took until the following Friday, I ordered mine on the previous Saturday to get it delivered from 400 miles away.
When I drove it off the lot it had 2 miles on it, not bad considering it had to be driven on the trailer, off the trailer, and to the gas station and back since they filled it up for me.
If they are making you take one they drove to you than don't let them charge you for the $400-750 destination and delivery fee that they are probably trying to charge you.

My car had 215 miles on it when I picked it up. At the time it was the only black SE V6 with Nav in the area and I was selling my car, so I got it. I was too excited about getting the car to realy worry about how many miles were on it. It's also my first new car, so it had less than anything else I have ever purchased!!!
Having 100-200 miles on it is not that unusual and their is absolute no problem in my mind. Why should it be...you will add more with your first tank filling.
Mine had 19 before I test drove, 26 after, and awas delivered with 28 miles on it, shouldn't really matter. I'd be more concerned with any damage during the transit. Also that's a good point about the destination/delivery too.
Absolutely, totally, nothing to worry about. I put that many miles on mine over the first weekend I had it. "Big deal."
Whether it has 15 or 150 miles on it, you'll still do the same thing -- give it a very thorough looking over, and have them "fix" anything you see amiss -- scratches, rock chips, whatever.
Again, "no big deal" -- enjoy your new car once you get it!
my highlander only had 35 when i picked it up. Thats okay by me... but 150+ I think its excessive. But I dont think it will matter as long as everything is clean, waxed, no dents. Also since I am not taking delivery till May not but they are securing the loan for me in the April promotion. If the May promotion is better I am taking that

no, you'll just have some french fries under the seat and hope they obey the break in period

I ordered mine via the dealer network/locator and it was driven from dealer a to dealer b - so, no big deal. 150 miles don't change anything - its new, never been titled, still has full warranty, and should not have any single blemish. Really don't understand the fuss about it..its not like somebody took it to the racetrack and was beating the holy crap out of it while brand new.
I don't think 150 miles is anything to worry about.
It's what the driver does in that 150 miles would worry me. If it were me, I may test a few hard accelerations and brakings, of course when no one was watching.
