I have no problem with a hole in that duct that is sealed after use and I think that injecting the cleaner upstream of the evaporator and using the fan is a superior way of coverage.

I think that completely engulfing the evaporator with the cleaning foam works better.

It may work the same but I'm not a fan of drilling extra holes anywhere when it can be avoided.

I would think that it works better the way other cleaners are used. That is, injecting the foam through the drain, letting it soak, and then removing the tip from the evap. drain so that the foam which has now turned back into a liquid sweeps everything out with it as it drains out.
AirSept Odor Shield and Keep-It-Cool Evaporator Treatment application options show them going in at the blower or drilling a hole in between the blower and evaporator.

There is also a AirSept Coil Coating product (and probably other manufacturers) that can be used after cleaning or when new to prevent mold buildup for up to a claimed 3 years.

The stated reason for more mold problems on newer cars is that the evaporators are being made smaller to fit in smaller boxes but still need the fin surface area so the fins are increased in number and are being placed closer and closer together which makes the fins harder to dry out.

What is the purpose of this? How many miles are on your car? Is there a problem with your AC?

First Question answer here:
My AC stinks!

Second Question:
4253 miles

No problem with the A/C itself, it just used to stink. Not anymore after I BG-Cleaned it. Hope it lasts.
