Question for those of you with TRD rear sway bars:
on the stock LE bar, it has metal clamps on the inner side of the bushings to limit/prevent side to side movement. the TRD bar has no such thing, what do you guys use instead? garden hose and hose clamps? i think the lack of those on my TRD bar is wearing out the bushings ... causing the bar to start squeaking fairly quickly after relubing the bushings.

mine doesnt move side to side.....
and im just using poly bushings and modified stock mounts (aka i bent them on the bench vise to fit around the larger TRD bar)

i actually did not have to modify the stock mounts... the TRD bar came with bushings with the same OD as stock but larger ID to accommodate the larger bar. my bar is definitely moving from side to side... the bushings have worn away the paint on the curved portion of the bar, close to where it mounts to the body. i'll get a few pictures later today to show you all what i'm talking about.

the paint has been worn away on the left side of the left bushing and the right side of the right bushing on the sway bar. you can see the metal clamp that i'm talking about that is present on the Stock LE bar and not on the TRD bar.

Sway bars don't usually have anything to keep them from moving side to side. Any slight movement isn't anything to worry about.
Try using a grease that's intented for the sway bar bushings. It will cling much better than normal greases. You should be able to get it from a suspension company (Hotchkis, PST, BMR, Spohn, Energy Suspension, Prothane, etc.).

i know the movement is nothing to worry about, but i'm pretty sure that's what is causing my sway bar to start squeaking so quickly after relubing the bushings. the curved end of the bar gets pushed into the bushing, expanding it beyond its normal shape... that's probably wearing out the bushings too.

i recently just switched to using mobil 1 synthetic grease... its pretty thick and clingy so i think it'll help.
