5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I'm sure this has been covered before, but my friend has a 2002 Camry XLE V6, and his bumper is all dented. So he and i are going to take it off and use a hair dryer to heat the area and push the dents out. Can someone please post a diagram or a pic or something? i searched and nothing came up. If its anything like removing the gen 6 front bumper then i can do it.

i don't have pics, but i can explain....there's bolts/screws behind the wheel well on both sides...and underneith the plastic shroud has to be taken down as well. and theres two bolts/screws where the grille is (pop the hood you'll see them)...if he has fog lights becareful pulling the cover off. make sure you unhook them first.

i can get pics of the areas tomorrow if you want.
is there just one bolt behind the splash guard on each side? I know on the front of the car under the hood theres the 1 bolt next to each headlight then a little clip in the middle. SO then all i need to do after removeing them it pull back the splash gurads just enough to get to the bolts that bolt the bumper up to the fendors, then underneath the bumper on the plastic skidplates?

i think there's 3 or 4 under the car...and one under each splash gaurd in the wheel well. i can't remember exactly how many
yea, that sounds about right. I had a 5.5 before the 08, i never took the bumper off, but i did look around to see how i would if i needed too. Thanks for the info.

9 bolts on the bottom:
2 at each wheel splash guard (you may be able to get away with removing just one)
5 at the engine splash guards
2 bolts hidden behind the wheel splash guards (one on each side)
2 bolts and a clip underneath the hood grille.
you don't really need pictures, most of the bolts are visible and in very plain sight. the ones in the fender wells are at the very edge of the bumper, see JustAnotherAsian's DIY for the pictures for those. once all the bolts are removed, pull the side of the bumper out at each fender well... they are clipped in there as well. then you can pull the bumper forward and off the car.
