2007 camry AutoDim Compass Mirror pinout 5 pin

I got a 2007 Camry autodim compass mirror off e-bay and it has a 5 pin plug. It has GNTX-518 on the back. The wires from mirror are black, brown, yellow, white, grey going to the 5 pin connector. Then I have a pigtail with only two wires connected. One white with a black stripe on one end (pin 1 ?) and one solid yellow at pin 4 from that end. The white with black looks like it mates to the black wire on the connector and the yellow one goes to the white wire on the connector.

Anyone know what the pinout is for this mirror ? I'd love to know what all 5 pins are.

I bought the same mirror from ebay. The five pin plug is part of the pigtail that was supplied with the mirror. It connects to the five pin port in the mirror. The white and yellow cable at the end of the pigtail connects to the car.

There are a bunch of cables stacked together in the overhead compartment above.Someone had told me that one of those cables has the five pin plug identical to the one in the pigtail and can be connected to the mirror and be used to power it.Unfortunately he was wrong. There is no cable there that has the five pin plug attached to it.The black and yellow cable attached to the pigtail must be spliced and attached to one of those cables in order to power the mirror.

In the beginning I wanted to attach the mirror myself. In order to reach the cables above I needed to pull down the center overhead compartment. But pulling down the center overhead compartment is not easy as it looks.I found out I needed to remove the pins attached to the left and right pillars where the side airbags are and then pull the pillars down in order for the entire center compartment to come down.

It sounded to complicated and I didn't want to damage anything doing it myself, especially tampering with the side airbags.I went to two dealers and none of them wanted to do it because they said there technicians were not well experienced to do such a job.Fortunately I found a toyota dealer near my house that did it for $100 for the one hour labor. They even supplied an extra cable that was required to do the job in that price.

I imagine that the cable they supplied was attached to the yellow and white wire of the pigtail on one end and the other end of the cable attached somewhere above in the overhead compartment. The other end of the pigtail which has the five pin plug was used to attach to the five pin port in the mirror. That port in the mirror has the holes alligned up for the plug to attach to.

I was so happy I went to the dealer. It was well worth to get it profesionally done.Especially getting it done from the dealer. The dealer told me that they do it all the time and as long as the mirror is a genuine oem toyota part and not aftermarket then there should be no problem.I love the autodimming feature as well as the compass for a good sense of direction.

My advice is to get it done from the dealer. As long as the mirror came with the pigtail you should not have any problem getting it installed. Also, call the dealer up and ask if they can do it so you won't run into the same problem I encountered going to the first two dealers.Good luck.

Thanks, I think I will take it to the dealer to have it installed but I at least wanted to test it first. That's why I wanted to know how to hook it up to a 12v power supply. I know it's a 50/50 chance but I don't want to burn it up if I guess wrong.

I wouldn't test it to check if it powers if you're afraid it may burn. That mirror is very delicate because it has a built in compass. If theres a higher than normal surge in power from the 12 volt then it may burn the unit.

I pretty sure that the mirror will work. There is no need to test it.I say that because it sounds like you bought the mirror from the same person I did on ebay. But just in case to assure yourself take it to the dealer and ask there electrical tech to check it instead. They will actually check it before and see if it powers before installing without asking. Its just standard procedure for an electrician to do before installing a unit.

Also, don't tell them you bought it off ebay and that it came off another camry. They may be hesitant to do it in that case.Tell them its new and you bought it from toyota. Its the same oem mirror for 2007 camry. If any problems, just go to another dealer.

I found another post the says this information is in "EWD 338 and EWD 491 of your service manual." However, the person would not give the information and just said to look it up.

Does anyone have a service manual and can give me the information ? I don't have a service manual.

I just need to know what the two used wires are but it would be nice to know what all 5 pins are if the manual has that information. The two wires I have are white with black stripe and solid yellow. I just need to know what one is ground and what one is power.

I don't know if this is going to help you or not. It looks pretty greek to me. Hopefully the information you are looking for is in here. I've compiled a few pages from the service manual in regards to the EC mirror. The last EWD 491 doesn't seem to exist. The page numbers don't go that high as far as I could tell. Of course this is the manual for the Hybrid, but I would hope the mirror set-up would be the same.
