Manual Tranny 1 to 2 grind when cold

I have an 07 CE Camry, Manual transmission, 12,000 miles. When cold (meaning when the car has not been driven in 4+ hours), I get a feeling of a gear grind when shifting from first to second. It is even more noticeable when the outside temperature is below 32 degrees. This lasts only for about 2 minutes or so, then the shift is smooth. I can feel it more than I can hear it.
All other shifts are fine when cold.

All my other manuals are a little notchy/stiff when cold, but I have never felt a grind when cold.

Anybody else with a 07-09 Camry Manual notice this?

I have the same issue, but being that the Camry is my first manual car, I thought it was normal.

This is beacause the fluid is cold therefore the blocking rings cannot cut through the thick fluid with as fast as you are shifting because its too thick. If you let your car warm up for a few minutes before taking off you wont have this issue since the fluid will warm up and not be as "thick". Also, maybe if you switch to a good synthetic fluid this issue may not be as apparent. Common in manual transmissions

Your reply is something I have considered. The only reason that I asked about this issue is because none of my other Toyota manuals have had this problem. They are all stiff when cold because of the think oil, but they have not had a feel of a grind like this one does. I don't really hear it, but I can feel it.

Thanks to all who have replied.
