5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
First mod I'd like to is change the wheels. I am looking at the GS430 wheels, but that is not that point here. For those Lexus wheels, or any 18x8 wheel for that matter, what size tire would fit?
From my readings here, 235-45-18, 245-45-18, and 235-50-18 tires will fit. So my question is, which tire size will:
-not cause any rubbing
-look good with the stock suspension (wheel gap is of concern here, because I can't "drop" the car)
-be flush with the side of the body (wheel spacers perhaps?)
-most importantly, fit the wheels safely
I have 18x8 with a 235-45-18 tire. i did do the trd drop springs and have no rubbing or tight turned scrubbing issues. as far as wheel gap you will still have some.
Snow is my major thing holding me off from lowering as well. The GS430 wheels are also my favorite wheels so far and I love the lowered look, but once it's lowered, the car would become a ice scraper in winter. Therefore, it would be interesting to know what would be the perfect tire size that offers the best look with stock suspension.

That amount of wheel gap looks good to me, especially because I have to drive in the snow during the winter time.

I'm lowered...snow never affected anything..i drive way up north every weekend in the winter, never got stuck, never plowed any. go for it
i may have coilovers. but you have other useful and better things, like a wife and kids lol. which is a great/overwhelming reasons to stick w/ springs.
Thank you. You are a wise youngster.
