Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Another 'what do you think of these rims' thread - and for that, I do sincerely apologize
I have a 2007 Camry SE-V6 and I've stumbled across a used set of black ASA AR-1 18" rims with machined lip and 225/40/18 Continental Contisportcontact tires - used for only 2 months on a Lexus IS300 - asking $1500 CDN or best offer.
I'm curious to know what you guys think of black rims on the Magnetic Grey Camry - and if the bolt pattern would work with my car (it's 5 x 114.5 bolt pattern, offset et40) according to the seller - and I believe the 07 Camry's bolt pattern is 5 x 114.3.
I've always wanted gun metal rims because they look sweet with the Magnetic Grey, but Akira still hasn't offered to sell me his Nexo's , and these black rims look sweet too.
They look nice, similar to the Axis and 5-zigen design (not black though) posted earlier. the hole pattern and offset look okay, I assume these are 18x8"? If you want a bit more flush look in the rear, you would need to add a small spacer (I have 18x8 with +40mm and thinking about adding a 10mm spacer).
The only thing is that the 225-40 are pretty low profile and will make your wheel gap larger, even with a moderate drop.
I like the sporty look of it. Just make sure your theme is sporty because these will not look good on my car with chrome them.
Also the tires size is a little small being 225-40-18 which will make the gap of the tire and wheel well bigger and will give inaccurate reading on your mph.
I like Akira's rims better though.

You know akira isn't the only one in the world with nexo's ... if you want them, buy em
Would if I could but Wheelmax discontinued the PX-5's and I have yet to find them elsewhere. I didn't think I was implying it was a limited edition run of one set.

Yeah, they are 18X8. The seller is saying that for the Camry it's recommended either 225/40/18 or 225/45/18 and that if the sidewall is too high then it will make the wheel look smaller. I was also concerned about the ride quality but he said it's smooth with factory shocks.

For this price, you can get them, ride them out and decide at the next tire change if you like the look and ride quality or want to go to a tire with a bit more sidewall. In addition to the above sizes, 18x8 also fit 235-45-18 nicely.

He seems pretty flexible on the price so I'm thinking I could probably get it for closer to a grand.
I would also be concerned about the speedometer/odometer being inaccurate as per Lammy. Do you happen to know what is the ideal tire size in 18's to not have an impact?

225-45 is very close. But in general, as long as you know the difference you can always keep that in mind and add/subtract. You get used to it.
Here is a link where you can put your sizes in and compare to stock or any other size and see all parameters incl speedometer offsets.

Thoughts/comments always appreciated.
If you'd like, we can work out a good price and I'll go jack them off his car. He works about 30 mins away from me and he'd never know till he got off work
