5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
So I walked out to my car today to drive to work and noticed some damage to the rear passanger side quarter panal. There is not 1 scratch on the car so it was clearly not hit. I can't figure how the heck this happened?
Assuming it just needs to be put back into place, should I go to a shop or is it a DIY project? Any thoughts on what could have happened? Ran something over, shopping cart, someone yanked on it?
If its facing the street side, maybe someone was backing out and hit it. Doesnt have to be a hard hit...but a slow backing up that they kept backing up and not knowing they were hitting the car.
^I was thinking the same, see if you can pop it yourself. Try and save yourself some money first. If you can't, then it'll look like shop time. Someone could have just leaned on it or pushed it in. No clue though. Kinda odd.

My car has less body roll than I do.
When you want sports car handling, you buy a sports car.
Car is parked in the drive way- there is no way someone could hit it. It almost seems like someone reached into the wheel well and pulled it out. I dropped it off at our local shop this morning to have them take a look. Is it a difficult DIY project to lossen that side of the bumper and set it back into place? (assuming none of the plastic "teeth" or fasteners were damaged)
To be clear, the plastic bumper is seperated from the car. The metal is not dented or damaged.
man i hate that! sorry to hear what happened to u, hopefully its easy to fix n a DIY thing
but man, y cant our factory alarm be set up to where its sensitive to body contact?! cause like when i had my first car, i was at worked, reversed parked n when i got of i didnt notice anything till i got home i saw that someone backed into my front bumper, left a bigg dent n i didnt even know cause the alarm wouldnt go off cause of stuff like that, thats stupid
it would save us a lot of time n stress if our factory alarm has that feature

I'd guess that it was a pickup reversing with a steel bumper that hit the top panel and squished it in-- That would explain the damage and lack of paint.
