5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I am looking for a new set of rotors and pads (not for the Camry though) and came across www.rotorpros.com. Anybody had experience with them? They sell packages with Hawks HPS pads and SS Stoptech as well. You can specify your rotors, including no dimple/drilled/slotted version - just blank.
I don't need them for the Camry for now, but they do make more than what is on their page. I guess they just don't have too many requests from Camry owners. Their are pictures of a scion in their gallery.
Update: I decided to test these supplier after some more research. They have 1 year warranty and are recommended by some Mopar guys.
I got them delivered as promised, installed w/o a problem and my experience so far is great. They improve the braking over the OEM system I had, which was an upgraded sport setup with larger than standard rotors etc. Their is no vibration, grip appears to be better and more responsive than the OEM. I did not measure any brake distance etc - in case you ask why I think these are better...simply driving the car before/after .
I inquired with them and you can have a Camry 07 model year set for $320 shipped = 4 rotors as shown below but silver zinc plated (below is black, extra $30) and Hawk HPS Performance pads. I did not opt for the Stoptech SS brake lines after talking to my installer.
I tested these on my Mazda RX-8 Shinka with Sport Suspension and Brakes.
PS: The (black) deep zinc plating is to prevent rust on the hub section and any other portion not in contact with the pads. The plating wears off on the pad contact surface after a few miles and will be just like any other rotor w/o plating.
I saw the pics first, and I thought you can get brakes like that for the Cam?
Good to hear you got a good experience. The black plating stuff sounds good because the hub part of the brakes on my old Camry all had surface rust which looked like shit with rims.
You can get exact the same (of course fitted properly) for the Camry - I will do that after I get some wear on my pads to have a reason to change. Yes, I had the same problem with the rusted rotor hubs being visible through the open wheels - looks uuugly. Rotorpro can do any color on top of the zinc plating - I just opted for the pure, all black zinc plating. Looks nice and clean.
Thanks, I still need to tackle the calipers. I waited too long on my other car and now I need to do heavy duty cleaning before I can paint them black.
I painted mine black last year and they still look good! Damn, these black zinc plating rotors looks very nice.
It will go together with what I have coming...

Btw, they offer group buys on their homepage!
Thanks for any feedback!
I warped my front rotors recently when I didn't torque the lugnuts correctly.
I ordered a pair of Raybestos Rotors from Rockauto.com (they literally do rock!) for $ roughly $40 each rotor.
I bought a pair of OEM front brake pads from the dealer and changed the rotors/pads out myself.
My SE now brakes as good as it did when it was brand new.
I would recommend Raybestos and Rockauto.com.
I have a 5% discount code if you anyone cares to use it: 1062574930753
Thanks Khanh. I already decided for the performance rotors and pads from rotorpros as these come deep zinc plated to prevent corrosion. Good to hear their are other, cheaper options.

...and they work as well as they look pretty. Stopping on my RX-8 is now more responsive - I like that.
This is perfect timing. I was just informed that I need new rotors (front and rear) as well as pads on my 2007. I was quote over $900 from the dealer for OEM parts plus labor. BS on that. I can get EBC performance rotors and pads for under $500 shipped.
I am thinking about just getting standard OEM-type replacement like the Raybestos ones mentioned above.
Thoughts/Suggestions?

I can't really comment on that as I did not use any of these, but $500 for an EBC set with pads (which once?) sounds reasonable (from my experience quoting them). I like their finishing and they have a good reputation. Raybestos is probably cheaper though. Good luck. Just don't buy the ultra cheap once from e-bay which have like 30 day warranty and promise all kinds of performance improvements...
