Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
there is a rust bubble forming where the bottom of license plate touches the car on the boot. is this covered under the factory rust proofing warranty? bought the car in jan 07.
No, they will not cover it because the plate wore through the paint causing the rust.

Mhm, what if it is a dealer installed license frame? Just wondering.
Then I would say you would need to take that up with the individual dealer. It would not be Toyota corporate's responsibility, but rather that particular dealer. If they are an upstanding dealer and their aftermarket frame caused the problem, they should make it right.

The dealer and the manufacturer are not the same. If the dealer caused the problem, they're at fault and should handle the problem internally. Toyota wouldn't be obligated to pick up the bill under warranty. New Toyotas don't come with license plates.
took it to the dealer looks like toyota is going to cover it as it is rusting from the inside out. they've sent pics over to toyota head office to get the ok. otherwise it's a $700 fix.
edit: i'll take pics as soon as my camera battery is charged.

thx for all the info guys...just got confirmation that toyota is going to pay for it....there's something in the paint that's the cause...make sure you check your cars.
