Remote start / windows installed, now can't turn stop light off or shift from P

I had a remote start professionally installed today and I also had them put windows modules in so I can operate power windows from the same remote.

Everything seemed to work at the shop (local, private owned reputable place, they installed DEI electronics equipment.)

I went to Home Depot and in the parking lot noticed rear stop lights would not turn off. On the way back, I felt the Camry shaking and generally not pulling as it should. At a stop light I engaged then released the parking break and that *seemed to* get things going but I'm not sure since this was just before I got home. The parking break was not left on, the break light came on then off when I manually engaged/disengaged it.

Got home, decided to pull the fuse out so the stop light doesn't drain the battery tonight. Before that I tried the remote start and that didn't work any more. I then noticed the car won't shift form Park.

EDIT: It turns out it was not computer related, or their fault.

When they did the install, I asked them to see if there's anywhere to pass a power cable through to connect the battery to an amp I just bought, if not to see if he can do a quick drill to pass a cable through.

He looked and said no need to drill, just poke a hole in the rubber behind the break pedal.

So I decided to do it right there in his shop and I got the cable through. So then as I drove out and pressed on the break pedal, it kind of grabbed the cable and got stuck there. So the break pedal did not retract keeping the break light on and causing the shaking while driving, kind of like pressing the gas pedal while keeping your foot on the break half way... Totally my fault. Should have secured the cable better.

I know the stop light they could mess up, it's related to electronics.

But can someone tell me how/if what they did could affect driving so that the car is shaking or not pulling as it should. That's my question.

I have no idea how they can mess that up...but basically everything related to engine mgmt in your car is linked to the control unit...so, yes, everything is possible. I would really think to go to another shop soon.

If they disconnected the battery, isn't there a reset / retraining sequence after word?

You have to remember, our cars are controlled by computers, 1 little mess will ruin everthing.

That's why I always take it to the dealer when it comes to electrical issues, at least they're responsible if anything goes wrong.
