Gen6 My silver shaved CAM (56k friendly)

Just feel like sharing some pics with the new rims installed & cleaned

TRD dropped (saggy tail...)

Front looks so much nicer after the drop. But some knocking sound when spring is compressed (anyone has the same issue?)

Stupid dealership drilled two big holes in front bumper (not shown here) for this license plate housing

Another view of my rims 225/45/18; any chance I can upgrade to 225/50/18 without rubbing?

Appreciate any comments~ thanks for reading

Thanks

They are Toyota OEM from JPY-built Estima... I dig the metallic finish & its "original-ness"

However, 225 tyres + TRD drop make my CAM more sensitive to road inclination (i.e. when the road surface is slightly inclined to the left I have to hold my steering wheel a lil bit right) this is not an alignment issue tho~

Looks nice!

had the same issue with the dealer drilling holes in a hurry on the front bumper. I simply have some very small plugs in their (color matched - not difficult with black though). I do have a clonking noise from the front left with my TRD springs - single clonk when going over bumps, dealer checked it and could not find anything wrong. Still looking.

225-50-18 fills the wheel well out 12mm more. Does not sound too much and looking at mine with the same setup as yours, I would think it fits. Moky or Lammydi might be able to give a definitive answer (knowing the offset would be good as well). Your speedometer reading will read about 3.7% too little as well.

Is that an emblem above the driver side tires? If so, what does it say?

I see you're from Hong Kong? Nice neighborhood. Its been awhile since I went back. The family is going back next week for 2.5 weeks. Too bad I'm not

tobeit - mine's not just small holes; they are 2-inch large on each side for the housing's plastic hooks... ridiculously large and ugly if I just remove the housing... definitely need to patch them up and repaint the whole bumper just to cover them up

and I'm looking to rebuild the front suspension struts (replace all bearings/soft plastics) to solve the noise issue. I notice the +/- 5 degree requirement stated in the workshop manual... not sure if my workshop got that right during the install...

dcemureviews - it's not an emblem above my tyres... it's actually a turn signal light

Oh that - these are not just holes but cutouts, body modifications kind! Hope you can get that fixed. Let me know how the suspension work goes - I had mine dealer installed, so not sure what they did and what they might not have done.

To the OP:
You will be fine with 225-50-18 with TRD springs.
I have 235-45-18=26.33 overall diameter. 225-50-18=26.86 which is +.53 compare to mine.
By looking at the pictures, your rims tucked-in quite a bit so I'm guessing you have 18x7 (or 18x7.5) +45 offset. With that much tucked in you won't rub at all.
If I remember correctly, flopshot has a hybrid with TRD springs and he has 225-50-18 with no problem.

Gen6

my rims are 7.5 just like the original 16"

some other gadgets/features of my CAM:
- dual zone auto climate control (front seats)
- rear seat a/c vents
- Toyota auto dimming mirror (bought from Japan, battery operated)
- factory fogs
- headlight washer (very powerful can spill foam to next car easily)
-

wish list:
- HYBRID LED taillights (just replace the corners... not sure if the red zone will look weird)
- front strut rebuild (bearings / plastics etc.)

Am very happy with this so far... good on gas (avg ~11.8L/100km) and very quiet (except the rattling B-pillar cover )
