in my limited knowledge, you always disconnect the battery before you mess w/ the wiring. I learned the hard way. I was connecting my HID kit in the trunk, and shorted all the domelights inside my cabin

disconnect it.

just don't let your wrench hit the positive when you're loosening the negative..vise versa....or you'll have a shocking expeariance.

lolll damnn. I was redoing my brother's headlights last night with my dad. His 2000 Maxima's headlights are fried, including the wiring. I redid all the wiring and got new bulbs. I was putting the battery back in. The head of the wrench was touching positive, and one of the ends of hte wrench accidentally hit the negative terminal. It made a huge spark and it got super hot. Luckily, the electricity went out through one side, and not the side I was holding onto! I'm lucky to be here lol.

disconnect it and yes, don't let your wrench hit the positive or viceversa while loosening the other.
