thanks. I am doing a surprise DIY, if all works OK, this will be awesome
anyone...
If you have one, it's in the trunk on the passenger side of the car, behind the carpet that covers that side of the trunk.
If you don't have one, you can buy an OEM tuner and put it back there.
If you don't have one, go find the Terk system that'll go in behind your dashboard's center stack, will work and sound just as good as the OEM system, and will cost half as much, or less, than the OEM system....
Oh, and the OEM system's antenna instructions will tell you to put the antenna inside the car, on the back "parcel shelf," on a metal plate, next to the center high-mounted stop light. For a "stealth" installation, you can just mount the antennna on the metal plating that's below the plastic parcel shelf -- the plastic won't affect the antenna's reception, but it'll sure keep that antenna hidden from everyone's view.
Search for stuff like "Terk," "XM," and "stealth," and you'll find all kinds of more detailed information in this forum....

thank you
I got a XM antenna for the outside from a company. I painted it white with Krylon pastic paint. it matches my car perfectly.
Some but head that tinted my windows used a metalize film and my reception sucks, esp when going due west. I will take picture of my install. I just want to unplug the one one that is in my rear package shelf and plug the new one in to see it it's better. I think it will be.
thanks, hope to finish this week.
ps does anyone know who makes toyota's sat receiver and antenna factory
ps does anyone know who makes toyota's sat receiver and antenna factory
I don't know who makes the receiver, but ST Microelectronics is the sole supplier/manufacturer of the chipset that is in every XM tuner/receiver regardless of who makes it.

thanks. I got a Delphi XM antenna and just want to see before I start tearing it all apart if it will plug into the factory SAT receiver.
I have read where a lot of Camry owner with factory SAT do not get goot reception from the inside antenna.

I have factory XM with the antenna installed on the rear shelf next to the brake light (picture is in a few threads) and my reception is fine. I'm sure it would be better on a larger metal plane outside of the car (like on the roof) but I can't complain about the performance where the antenna is.
