Hello all. I am new to this forum and i am looking to buy an 08 Camry Se V6. I recieved a couple of quotes from dealers and the best one that came back was $22500 for a base model. I dont think it includes VSC or Traction Control. Should i shell out the extra money for those features or just take the car? Any other helpful info from 2007+ Se V6 owners would be awesome. Thank for your time and responses in advance...

Used?
I wouldn't buy a stripped model of anything but that's up to you and your finances.

Well, Consumer Reports is currently making a BIG DEAL out of VSC and similar systems, considering it one of the most important features of a car's safety systems. And, I believe it's on the books to become mandatory by US law within a few years.
Meanwhile, the car magazines always bemoan the inability to turn such systems off, so they "can't have as much fun" with the car on their test tracks.
Personally, I'm with CR on this one: Apparently, these systems really do work, and have saved drivers from some unimagineable amount of accidents. We don't drive cars on closed-course race tracks -- we drive in all kinds of weather conditions and all kinds of driving conditions. Paying a few extra bucks for technology that'll help us stay on the road seems to be well worth it to me.
I'm also with the folks who would probably never buy a "stripper" car -- gosh, this is A LOT OF MONEY to pay for something, so for gosh sakes, get the stuff you want on your car! Though, I suppose in comparison to something like a loaded smaller-segment car, a stripper Camry might still be heads and tails above a loaded smaller car, so that's all good, too. Just, in the end, make sure you're getting what you want in your car, because you're going to be paying a lot of money for it!
I would buy a loaded car from a lower price point before getting a stripped Camry...that's just me. From the standpoint of a used car buyer, do you think resale is better on an optioned car or a stripped base model (in terms of % depreciation)?

sounds like a good deal to me. i paid 32k out the door for my 2k8 v6se. only "extra" options i have are sunroof, homelink, JBL audio, leather, and 18" bbs wheels.
no traction control or vsc. still, i think i got a good deal (6750 for my i4 2k3 camry trade, and $1k rebate toward that 32k). i wanted nav but the factory nav didn't do the 3d view and that was a deal killer for me (silly, i know).

I think thats pricey. I got a price quote for a I4 with nav and sunroof and it was only $25k. A v6 was about $27k-$28k (sunroof, nav, leather, everything loaded)
