Confused on 2009 camry se options

When looking on both Toyota dealership and edmunds.com, both say that traction control and vehicle stability control comes as typical standard when adding sports leather on 2009 camry se . When going in person to dealer, we were told that toyota do not normally sell camry with those 2 options in california. The only way for us to get it, would be to do special order.

Can someone explain why i would be getting oner thing from 2 different website, and totally different information from the dealer?

Edmunds isn't area detailed and the salesman may or may not know what he is talking about.

Go to toyota.com, Camry, Build your Own.

Put in your zip code and you will see the restricted options/packages that have been set up for your area and car model.

Anything else and you will have to go to another zip code/area to buy or find a dealer to special order for you.

If you are looking for an I4, this may be close.......

Thanks for both of your replys. I did build on toyota prior to going to the dealership and basically traction control and stability control was shown as required package when trying to get leather on SE vehicle. The dealer "sale person" claimed that because we have a dry weather in Southern California(most of the time), toyota do not sell vehicles with traction control and stability control as most customers don't want this option.

I just want to make sure, i understand it correctly. If toyota website says tc & esc option as available , than the dealer should have it and not have to do special order on it?

This is probably one of those times when a quick, half-hour visit to your nearest dealer's lot might make a whole lot of sense. Go look and see what they've got!

Of course, most dealers have online inventories, though I'm not so sure you'll get into reliable details regarding VSC and such....

Email or Fax the "Internet Sales Manager" of a half dozen or so of your closest dealers.

Tell them the exact model/options you want.

Tell them the Exterior/Interior colors you would accept.

Tell them you can wait for special order or dealer swap (if you can).

Ask for their best price by email reply and let them find one for you.

You will know the price and availability before you go to a dealership.

Don't bother with the showroom floor salesmen!!!!!!!

If you don't want the best price do it your way........

the dealer is being honest. i am a manager for a toyota store. edmunds and all the other guys are not accurate. the internet is not the bible, anyways i have prob seen 1 or 2 se's with the vsc and stuff without us special ordering, and i am on the other side of the country. so yes you might have to wait to get the one you want. and for that comment of the floor sales guys, hey they are trying to make a living just like everyone else. hell you pay % wise more mark-up at walmart than you do at a dealership. if you pay 400 per month on your car for 72 mo and you spend the same at walmart for the same time, you really paying more profit to walmart. a little food for thought.

If you plan on making a purchase like this one it would be in your best interest to go in and communicate with your sales person, let him know what you want. the salesperson will let you know what comes in a package and what is stand alone. I know i take a deal more seriously if the customer is there and ready to do business, i will literally bend over backwards to make the deal happen. or you can do the whole i'm shopping you over the internet thing and piss off the manager to the point that he would rather not deal with you at all. not saying that you would.

WTF does financing have to do with anything?

Based on your earlier comment that Toyota.com for your zip had it the same way, it is not a mistake on the part of Edmunds.com.

Your down payment means ZERO in the scheme of getting the best price for a car. The fact that you even mentioned it in asking for a price over the internet is in direct contradiction to your earlier comment about buying many cars and getting the best price. You negotiate your purchase price for the vehicle you are buying, independent of any F&I and trade in. Then, and only then, do you discuss the other things and potentially a better price if the dealer will be making some F&I money or have some upside in your trade.

I never done internet shopping before for vehicles so i am green. Regarding what financing have to do with anything. It's money that dealer gets in hand and to some dealer it makes a difference. I know you will say, it makes a difference on your apr and your monthly payment but i truly believe that it makes a difference when it come to price negotiation.

I own transportation business and have purchased many ford e250, so my earlier comment was the truth. Anyway thank you for reply.
