AAAHHHHHHH Gotcha. I can't say that I've ever seen that warning on a forum before, but it makes a lot of sense now that I know what it is. I was starting to think it was some kind of inside joke that our cars are anticipated to break down @ 57k miles or something...lawl.

I don't know about you guys, but I personally don't know anyone with dial-up anymore. I am a computer programmer and computer hardware specialist and the term "56k friendly" didn't ring a bell until just about a week or two ago because (like someone else stated), no other site that I visit uses that notation. My first modem was a blazing fast 1200 baud modem attached to a 286 12mhz Packard Hell so I know all about dial-up and each step computers have made since then. Personally, I don't see a need for noting 56k anymore as most people seem to use some form of DSL or cable nowadays.
Many of today's acronyms are kinda like this. I remember when I first saw LMAO and LOL and wondered what the hell people were talking about!
Wow, I sound like an old man talking about "first seeming LOL" and 1200 baud modems.... and I'm only 26!
56k is just as well known as LOL, or ROTFL just rarely used since everyone should be on cable by now. If people still using phone line, they should have their computer confiscated...permanently.
hahah since ppl are talking about it here ill admit something
i didnt know what FTW was for the longest time in this forum, this is my first forum ive ever been in n i kept asking myself wth FTW meant till like a couple of days ago i looked it up on google n found my answer felt relieved
fyi-for the ppl that doesnt know what FTW means, it stands for "For The Win" meaning, that choice would be the best choice, hence, for the win
i.e.
"i dont know what to get for my next car, a Honda Civic or a new 2009 Toyota Camry SE?"
"2009 Toyota Camry SE FTW!!!!! DUH!"

ROFL..... at first I thought it's 56k miles on ODO warning on the car. I was thinking along maintenance check and stuff @ 56k MILES.
Anyway... better to have more info on that "56k" warning. I hate an error or warning message that just say "error/warning" without explanation or anything else. If I don't know what I did wrong, how will I know to stop doing it?
Like speeding camera.. if you didn't even know you were speeding and it took your pic.. what if U pass that area again within 30mins and get Ur pic taken again? (example: some stretch of road speed is 65mph and certainly it change to 55mph.. I've been in Nevada and the speed 65mph change to 55 and 40 and 30 and 25mph only within 300ft. If I glance somewhere for a bit, I'm sure I'll miss all 4 signs telling me the speed now is 25mph and I'll be going 65mph)
