Correct me if I am wrong. Besides the change of interior and exterior, gen 5 has 4 speed automatic; gen 5.5 has 5 speed automatic.

gen 5.5 (2005-2006) has a revised front fascia with different grilles, bumper, foglights (XLE and SE) and headlights than a gen 5 (2002-2004)....the taillights are als different, as well as the wheels and hubcaps across the board....the gauge cluster was also revised, and a 3rd headrest appears on the rear seat...some colors also changed as well
the suspension of the camry changed minorly from 2003-2004, and some changes were made to motor mounts and strut mounts
mechanically speaking, all gen 5.5 4cyl models now use a 5 speed auto instead of the previous gen 5 model's 4 speed auto....by 2004 all SE V6 models converted to use of the 3mz-fe 3.3L V6 as standard engine....all other V6 LE and XLE models also recieved a revised 1mz-fe 3.0L V6 with VVTi, and the 2az-fe 2.4 auto stayed constant other than tranny changes

^ What he said. :P Also ABS and Audio controls on the steering wheels are standard on the Gen 5.5 camrys as well. ABS isn't offered on the CE models though, and the CE, LE, and SE does not come with a cassette deck, where the Gen 5 did come with the cassette/CD disc combo player.
