emergency kit

hi all, i have a 2002 toyota camry le with 141k. i am the type of guy who always like to be prepare. i dont like to get stuck on the road so i was wondering if anybody can tell me what type of emergency kit i should have.
i think the most common problem people face is bad starter, alternator or sensor or something. do you think it is a good idea to have an extra part just in case? any feedback

One of the best approaches is to read TN posts on this car and what has gone wrong. Camry as other cars experience part failures as they age. Knowing this you can plan ahead, determine what can go wrong, then check and replace is required.

There is also preventative maintenance such as coolant hose and belt changes.

How long are your drives, out in the middle of nowhere?

The computer has failsafe settings for most sensor failures, the car will typically run in a limp home mode.

If worried about the alt change the brushes now, this is usually what fails without any indication.

Jumper cables, carry some water as this came in handy when the plastic radiator suddenly sprang a leak or you need a drink in the middle of know where. A decent spare tire filled with air. Very good flashlight for problems at night and maybe flares, cars don’t always break down in safe places.

Small box full of the low cost hand tools, electrical tape and wire, “balling wire” to tie things up fast and simple, cheap volt/amp meter, duct tape, quart of oil. Get one those paper type overalls to put over your cloths as things can go wrong when your dressed in your Sunday best.

lol... triple a card, get the 100 mile towing package, and carry your cell phone... it's inevitible that at some point your car will break down on you... no way to predict what will or will not go wrong... you can carry around and entire trunk of tools and parts, and not be able to fix the simplest thing due to lack or tools or part!

edit: if you starter solenoid goes out, tap on it with anything heavy... even a rock will do, and usually, you can get one or more starts of it before it shits out on you, it will knock the solenoid open... your alternator goes out, not a biggy, as long as you keep your car running, you can get it home with a jump... as for a sensor... as noted above sesnor goes out, car will still be able to get you to when you can fix it... each sensor is several hundreds of dollars, and there are sensor all over your car, the tranny along i think has 6....

or "Roadside Assistance" for an extra 5 bucks a month thru your cell phone provider.

But a few bottles of water, flares and a small ABC fire extinguisher in case you roll upon an accident like I did a month ago.

Man, right before I read "a blow up...", I was hoping you'd say "doll". I almost laughed my ass off.
