TRD Air Filter installed. *Is this normal?*

Okay, so I spent around 1 hour trying to install in the damn air filter. At first, the box wouldn't close all the way like it did with the regular paper filter, but after I tried to close it with the TRD one, it just wouldn't close snugly, so I thought I put it in wrong, but no, it's just too damn thick and I just said, "Screw it" and did my best in trying to close the box as good as possible.

This is the outcome and I was wondering if any of you guys had the same problem? And I screwed it back in real tight so it's not loose.
